This Pear Butter with Cinnamon is so easy and yet beyond memorable. It will make your whole home smell amazing and is a flavorful treat perfect for breakfast, brunch or gifting! It requires no peeling and tastes just like an old-fashioned recipe but without all the waiting time. This pear butter is perfect for canning or freezing so make a big batch to enjoy all season long!

Ingredients:
- Pears-green pears work best for this recipe. I used anjou.
- Vanilla extract– either imitation or traditional vanilla extract will work perfectly here.
- Cinnamon Red Hots-I used these; however any cinnamon nonpareil will work.
- Brown Sugar-Either dark or light brown sugar will work just fine
How to make Pear Butter in the Instant Pot
- Begin by coring and slicing the pears. There is no need to peel the pears but you do need to remove the core and seeds and chop them up. Your slices do not need to be even as you will be pureeing this later.
- Add the pears, the vanilla extract, the cinnamon red hots, the brown sugar and the water to the bowl of your pressure cooker.
- Set the Instant Pot to high pressure for 20 minutes. When the cooking time is complete, quick release any remaining pressure.
- Use an immersion blender to puree the pear butter to your desired consistency. If you do not have an immersion blender, you can transfer the pear mixture to a blender or food processor to make it smooth.
- If your pear butter needs to thicken set your pressure cooker to sauté. Bring the mixture to a boil and boil it down until your desired consistency is reached.
Can this Old Fashioned Pear Butter without peeling be made on a stovetop?
Yes! Absolutely. Here is how to adapt the recipe to make on the stovetop instead of in a pressure cooker:
- Core and slice the pears as directed in the original recipe. Once again, your slices do not need to be perfectly even as they will be pureed later.
- Add the pears, vanilla extract, cinnamon candies, brown sugar and water to a large pot. Bring to a boil. Once the mixture is boiling, reduce to a simmer and simmer until the pears are beginning to fall apart, 20-30 minutes.
- Use an immersion blender to puree the pear butter to your desired consistency. If you do not have an immersion blender a food processor or blender can be used instead.
- Once the pear butter has been pureed return to the pot (or allow to remain in the pot if it was not removed) and continue to simmer until the mixture cooks down and your desired consistency is reached.
